Both days were extremely productive at the 1st International Gerontological Perspective Congress held on October 21-22, hosted by our university. The 1st International Gerontological Perspective Congress, which was held online via the Zoom platform and broadcast live on Youtube, was held successfully after an intense preparation period of 6 months.

The 1st International Gerontological Perspective Congress started on Thursday, October 21 with the opening speech of Mehmet EFE, the congress president and MAUN Gerontology department head. 1st International Gerontological Perspective Congress was held with the participation of our Rector Prof. Dr Fethi Ahmet POLAT, Vice-Rector Prof. Dr Yaşar KARADAĞ, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences Prof. Dr Hüseyin KIRIMOĞLU, Deputy General Manager of Services for the Disabled and Elderly Coşkun GÜRBOĞA and the founding head of the Department of Gerontology at Akdeniz University Prof. Dr İsmail TUFAN, and attracted attention with its participation rate and undiminished interest of the audience.

In the congress where the papers under the main heading of "Duties of Post-Covid-19 Gerontology" were accepted, gerontology after covid-19, social and individual changes with ageing, age and gerontological change, gerontology from the past to the future, gerontological social policies, ageing theory, development of ageing in a biopsychosocial perspective. , elderly care needs and care models, active and healthy ageing, gerogagy, comparative studies in gerontology, elderly neglect and abuse, Alzheimer's and dementia, old age and sleep, geriatric syndromes and frailty, old age and migration, social work in old age, gerontological family counselling, intergenerational relations and adaptation to the changing world, social support in old age, nutrition in old age, protection and improvement of elderly health, quality of life in old age, communication in old age, geriatric rehabilitation, iatrogenic diseases in the geriatric patient group and current guidelines, comprehensive geriatric evaluation, heart disease in old age Many interesting presentations were made, including sub-themes such as sleeper functions, gerontological social security systems, 3rd age university, individual pension policies and social care insurance. After each session, question-answer sessions were held where the questions of the audience were answered.

The congress, which brought together academics, researchers, nursing homes and elderly care institutions from various provinces, and undergraduate and graduate students in the field of Gerontology, turned into an academic feast. Participating in the congress as a "Keynote Speaker" and invited speaker from Victoria Melbourne University, known as the Einstein of Alzheimer in the world, Professor Terence SEEDSMAN, retired professor of Gerontology, stated that he was pleased with the interest in the congress.

Our congress was held with the participation of Prof. Dr Hafiz T.A. KHAN from West London University, Prof. Dr Gerd SCHUSTER from Beirut Institute of Aging Culture, Prof. Dr Martin PALLAUF from Paracelsus Medical University, Prof. Dr Esfandiar TABARI from UMIT Tirol Private Health Sciences University, Prof. Dr Andreas EHGARTNER from Rosenheim Technical University of Applied Sciences, and Prof. Dr Emre Şenol DURAK from Abant İzzet Baysal University. A total of 8 sessions and 32 paper presentations were made in 2 days at the congress. In addition, a workshop was held by Jane KERSCHNER, a life coach, a retirement coach and wise leaning workshop trainer, who attended the congress from America.

Our Rector Fethi Ahmet Polat, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences Hüseyin Kırımoğlu, and the founding head of the Mediterranean Gerontology Department, Prof. Dr İsmail Tufan, did not spare their support for the 1st International Gerontological Perspective Congress for 2 days. The 1st International Gerontological Perspective Congress, which has special importance because it is the first congress held in the field of Gerontology after Akdeniz University in our country, has turned into an information feast for professionals and students from the field of Gerontology, to which many researchers from Turkey and abroad contributed with their presentations.

The closing speech of the congress was made by MAUN Gerontology Department Head Assist. Prof. Mehmet EFE and Akdeniz University Gerontology Department Head Prof. Dr İsmail TUFAN. Prof. Dr İsmail Tufan stated that the 1st International Congress of Gerontology, hosted by Muş Alparslan University, was the first congress in the field of Gerontology in Turkey after Akdeniz University and that he was very pleased with the participation and interest in such an important congress. MAUN Gerontology department head Assist. Prof. Mehmet EFE stated that the congress was very enthusiastic and productive. Assist. Prof. Mehmet EFE expressed his special thanks to our rector Prof. Dr Fethi Ahmet Polat, Dean of Health Sciences Prof. Dr Hüseyin KIRIMOĞLU, and Akdeniz University Gerontology Founding Department Head Prof. Dr İsmail Tufan for their support to the congress.
