The "1st International Gerontology and Social Work Grand Meeting" Was Held at Our University.

The 1st International Gerontology and Social Work Grand Meeting, organized by the Department of Gerontology at the Faculty of Health Sciences at our university, was held with the participation of both local and international scientists. This event, which is a first in Turkey, attracted participants from various countries, especially Japan, as well as prominent names from Gerontology and Social Work departments across Turkey. The event received significant interest from our university's academics and students.

The program began with an opening speech by our Rector, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alican. The opening ceremony was attended by Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Kenan Yıldırım, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences Prof. Dr. Ercan Bursal, Head of the Department of Gerontology Dr. Mehmet Efe, the founder of Gerontology in Turkey Prof. Dr. İsmail Tufan, and Head of the Department of Social Work Dr. Özgür Yeşilyurt, as well as many other academics and students.

In his speech, our Rector expressed his happiness at hosting this international meeting and thanked those who contributed to organizing the event. He also emphasized the importance of holding such events more frequently in the future.

The program consisted of three sessions, each addressing different themes, and concluded with a closing speech by Prof. Dr. İsmail Tufan, the founder of the Gerontology Department in Turkey and a faculty member at our university. Prof. Dr. Tufan highlighted the importance of collaborative work between the fields of Gerontology and Social Work in research related to the elderly population, underscoring the value of this meeting.

At the end of the program, certificates of appreciation were presented to the participants, and the event concluded with a group photo.
